My Canine Nutritionist

And it took me 5 years and almost 4 000 dog patients to understand why chronic symptoms kept coming back...
I'M CLAIRE LUCIE

You may have worked with professionals who treated the itching, cleared the ear infection, changed the food, or calmed the digestive symptoms, only for them to return, worsen, or be replaced by another problem, and this is exactly what I was taught as well.
But after four years analysing more than 1,200 scientific studies and comparing the findings with recurring patterns across almost 4,000 dog patients in private practice, online consultations, through my online programmes, and my work within shelter environments, it became clear to me that external symptoms are most often signs of low-grade chronic inflammation, exposure to chemicals, immune dysregulation, poor gut health, hormonal imbalance, or several of these factors occurring together.
And that if I truly wanted to make my patients feel better in the long term and improve their health and symptoms, I had to identify and address the root cause first, instead of treating the symptoms.
That is why I do not treat each symptom as a separate problem but as the body's way of telling us that something requires attention.
So instead of repeatedly trying to suppress what we can see, working together with the guardians of my patients, we focus on reducing your dog's inflammatory load, rebuilding gut health, restoring normal immune function, and changing the nutritional and lifestyle factors allowing those symptoms to keep returning.
And when we shift the focus from treating each symptom in isolation to addressing those underlying problems, the symptoms improve in most cases and, in many cases,
disappear entirely.

A 6-WEEK GUIDED PROGRAMME
TO IMPROVE YOUR DOG’S
CHRONIC SYMPTOMS
If you're tired of watching the itching, gastrointestinal problems, ear infections, paw licking, or other symptoms disappear only to come back again, I'll guide you to understand what is truly causing those symptoms, address their root cause, and finally bring long-term relief to your dog.
Created from what four years of analysing more than 1,200 scientific studies and almost 4,000 dog patients in private practice and shelter environments taught me.
SO WHY ARE THE SYMPTOMS STILL COMING BACK?
BUT THEN...
The medication works at first and helps only while your dog is taking it, stops working as well as it once did, or the symptoms return as soon as the treatment ends.
The itching, paw licking, ear infections, loose stools, vomiting, pain, inflammation, or skin problems begin all over again.
COMMON SOLUTION #1:
Medication to control
the symptoms
Try steroids, antibiotics, anti-inflammatory medication, allergy medication, gastrointestinal medication, pain relief, Apoquel, Cytopoint or another prescription to stop the symptoms and finally make your dog comfortable.
You find yourself back at the vet, restarting the same treatment or trying another medication, while wondering why the symptoms keep returning and whether your dog will need medication forever.
“More of a band-aid rather than a cure.”
ANOTHER COURSE,
ANOTHER PRESCRIPTION...
BUT THEN...
Weeks or months pass, and the itching, ear infections, loose stools, or skin problems continue—or the new diet creates another problem.
You try four or five prescription diets without finding one that relieves the symptoms and works for your dog.
COMMON SOLUTION #2:
Prescription Diets & Repeated Food Trials
Try a hydrolysed prescription diet, remove chicken, change proteins, restrict every treat and extra food, follow the trial perfectly, and wait for the symptoms
to improve.
TRY ANOTHER FOOD...
Another bag, another restricted trial, more money spent, more uncertainty about what to feed, and the same feeling:
"I am at the end of my rope here trying out so many diets.”
BUT THEN...
You see little improvement, only temporary relief, or the symptoms return within hours or days.
The skin becomes inflamed again, the smell returns, and your dog starts licking, biting, and scratching again.
COMMON SOLUTION #3:
Shampoos, Creams & Topical Treatments
Use medicated shampoos, creams, sprays, wipes, ointments, lotions, and frequent baths to relieve the itching, smell, redness, and infections.
WASH. APPLY. REPEAT.
More baths, more products, and more time spent trying to keep the symptoms
under control.
“Exhausted by the constant showers.”
“Nothing we’ve tried is fixing it.”
You receive different answers from different professionals, spend hundreds or thousands, and still feel that something has been missed.
The symptoms continue, another appointment is booked, and you are
left wondering what to try next.
You receive different answers from different professionals, spend hundreds or thousands, and still feel that something
has been missed.
The symptoms continue, another appointment is booked, and you are left wondering what to try next.
BUT THEN...
COMMON SOLUTION #4:
More Vet Visits, Specialists
& Tests
Book another veterinary appointment,
try another medication, see a dermatologist, and pay for allergy testing, bloodwork, biopsies, rechecks,
and another professional opinion.
You start again with another professional, spend even more money, and still feel no closer to understanding what is wrong or how to help your dog.
“We’ve spent thousands.”
“I feel helpless.”
“I just don’t know how to help him.”
START AGAIN WITH
SOMEONE ELSE...

After everything you have already tried,
I completely understand why the thought
of trying one more thing can feel exhausting.
You have followed the prescriptions, changed your dog’s food, restricted treats, used the shampoos and creams, attended appointment after appointment, and spent hundreds or thousands—only to watch the
symptoms improve temporarily, return again, or become replaced by another problem.
You are left wondering whether something has been missed, whether your dog will need
medication and special care forever, and what you could possibly try next.
But after everything I have learned from these dogs, I also know there is another way to approach chronic symptoms—one that moves beyond repeatedly controlling what you can see and begins addressing what is happening inside your dog’s body.
“But what if my dog’s symptoms are environmental or genetic?”
If you've been told that your dog has sensitive skin, that it's normal for them to react to grass or other substances, or that they're simply allergy-prone, I would encourage you to think about it differently.
The fact that your dog's body is overreacting to a harmless substance isn't normal but rather a sign that their immune system is dysregulated and is treating a harmless substance as if it were a dangerous bacteria, virus,
or other invader.
This is most of the time accompanied by a damaged gut microbiome, as beneficial gut bacteria help train the immune system to tolerate harmless substances instead of overreacting to them.
But what if my dog has a genetic predisposition?
When it comes to genetics, nutrition is an extremely powerful tool, and science has now established that nutrition can influence how genes are expressed.
Food acts like a set of chemical switches that influence which genes become more or less active.
A genetic predisposition doesn't necessarily mean that a disease will develop. Nutrition and lifestyle play a major role in how that
predisposition is expressed.
For example, German Shepherds have a genetic predisposition to hip dysplasia. While nutrition cannot remove that predisposition, starting an appropriate nutrition and lifestyle programme early can influence how those genes are expressed and reduce the risk or severity of the disease.
So, even in the case of a genetic predisposition, nutrition still has a
central role to play.

Imagine no longer feeling, “I’ve done everything recommended to me,” while still thinking,
“I just don’t know what to try next.”
SO WHAT ARE THE STEPS WE WILL TAKE TOGETHER?
1
CLEAR ANSWERS
First, you will finally understand why your dog’s chronic symptoms keep returning.
Instead of receiving “too much scientific language” and having to “go home and Google it,” you will receive clear explanations of what is happening, why previous approaches have failed to stop the symptoms from returning, what each part of the process is for, and what to expect throughout our six weeks together.
2
IDENTIFY WHAT IS DRIVING THE SYMPTOMS
Next, we will identify the foods, habits, inflammatory triggers,
and immune disruptors driving your dog’s recurring symptoms.
You will stop moving from one medication, prescription diet, shampoo, cream, supplement, or specialist to another without understanding why the itching, ear infections, loose stools, gastrointestinal problems, pain, inflammation, or skin infections continue to return.
3
REMOVE WHAT KEEPS THE CYCLE GOING
Then, you will remove the gut-damaging foods, inflammatory triggers, immune disruptors, and lifestyle habits keeping your dog’s body trapped in the same cycle.
You will know what needs to be removed, changed, or replaced, instead of continuing to try more temporary solutions and wondering whether something important has been missed.
4
REBUILD THROUGH FRESH NUTRITION
Next, you will learn exactly how to feed your dog a fresh, gut-supportive, anti-inflammatory diet.
You will know which foods to use, how to structure your dog’s meals, which treats fit into the process, and how to move forward without reaching the point of feeling,
“I am at the end of my rope here trying out so many diets.”
5
TARGETED SUPPLEMENTS & ADAPTED LIFESTYLE
Then, you will create a clear supplement routine and adapted daily lifestyle that fits your dog’s symptoms and wider health plan.
You will understand the purpose of each supplement, how it fits into your dog’s nutrition, and how to organise feeding, supplements, and daily care without the entire routine taking over your life.
6
KNOW WHAT TO EXPECT & WHAT TO DO NEXT
Finally, you will know how to recognise progress, what to expect over time, and what to do when a symptom or flare appears.
You will not be handed another plan and left alone to figure it out. You will have day-by-day guidance, written information you can return to, and a clear place to ask questions instead of searching endlessly through conflicting advice by yourself.
Inside the 6-week programme, you will learn:
✓ Why medication, prescription diets, creams, and shampoos have failed to stop your dog’s symptoms from returning and what needs to change to move beyond temporary relief.
✓ How to understand what is driving your dog’s chronic symptoms, why they continue to return, and how to address the root causes through nutrition, targeted support, and lifestyle changes.
✓ How to identify and remove the inflammatory triggers, immune disruptors, and gut-damaging foods and habits affecting your dog, without having to sort through endless conflicting advice alone.
✓ Exactly how to feed your dog a gut-supportive, anti-inflammatory diet, including which foods to use and how to structure their nutrition to reduce itching, biting, scratching, recurring ear infections, loose stools, gastrointestinal problems, and skin infections.
✓ How to create a clear, effective supplement routine, understand the purpose of each supplement, and know how it fits into your dog’s wider nutrition and health plan.
✓ How to recognise progress, understand what to expect throughout the process, and know what to do when a new symptom appears or a flare begins.
This is a self-paced 6-week programme, with my guidance and support throughout.
You’ll move through the programme at your own pace, following the lessons, nutrition guidance, resources, and step-by-step actions provided for each stage. I’ll be there throughout the 6 weeks to support you, answer programme-related questions, and help you stay on track.
The programme provides guided education and support rather than an individual consultation or personalised clinical assessment.
AFTER OUR 6 WEEKS TOGETHER,
YOU WILL:
✓ Move towards a daily life free from constant itching, gastrointestinal discomfort, ear infections, and paw licking.
✓ Break the cycle of watching your dog suffer, scratch, frantically lick their paws, wake up in the
middle of the night, and experience severe flare-ups that keep coming back.
✓ Sleep without being repeatedly woken by scratching, licking, restlessness, vomiting, diarrhoea, or the fear that another severe episode is beginning.
✓ Regain the freedom to live without organising every day around symptoms, feeding, medication, toileting, constant monitoring, and special care—or worrying about leaving your dog with someone else.
✓ Break free from endless vet visits, specialists, expensive treatments, prescription diets, and the feeling of leaving appointments with more questions than answers.
✓ Understand why your dog’s symptoms have continued to return despite everything you have tried, recognise what is happening when a new symptom or flare appears,
and know what to do next.
✓ Follow a clear, step-by-step path to rebuild your dog’s gut health, reduce inflammation, and maintain a healthy immune system without searching endlessly online or trying to piece together conflicting advice alone.
✓ Feel confident knowing exactly how to feed your dog, which foods, supplements, and lifestyle habits to use, what progress to expect, and how to maintain the
improvements over time.
Over the next six weeks, I’ll be guiding a small group of dog parents, day by day, through the process of rebuilding their dogs’ gut health, reducing inflammation, and addressing
the root causes of their chronic symptoms that keep coming back.
This is a self-paced 6-week programme, with my guidance and support throughout.
Because I want to guide each dog parent closely throughout the programme, only a small number of places will be available.
